Job Overview:
Shriners Children’s is looking for a full-time Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon to join our team at Shriners Children’s New England in Springfield, MA. This provider will be expected to manage a broad range of Pediatric Orthopedics patients, with the opportunity to continue to grow our Sports Health Medicine program as well.
- Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm (2 days OR, 3 days clinic). No ER call expectation
- EHR: Cerner (OR), Epic (Clinic)
- Average Patient Volume: 2-4 surgeries a week (OR), 14-18 patients a day (clinic)
- Types of Cases: Surgeries range from tendon releases and simple fractures to multiple lower extremity procedures, ACL reconstructions, patella femoral reconstructions, and meniscal injuries. Clinic visits span the full breadth of pediatric orthopedic conditions - sports injuries, neuromuscular conditions, lower extremity malalignment, cleft lip and palate, and others.
- Team: 8 pediatric orthopedic surgeons with significant APP support in clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative care for patients in the operating room
- Attend weekly outpatient clinics, examining patients in these clinics directly, and assisting in supervising staff within the clinic setting
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school required
- Must have completed an ACGME accredited orthopedic surgical residency program
- Must have completed a relevant fellowship training program in pediatric orthopedic surgery
- Must hold or be eligible for a board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery
- 2-5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience preferred, however, candidates about to complete fellowship are welcome to apply.
- Interest or experience in sports medicine preferred, but not required
- Full COVID-19 vaccination status required
- Must possess or be eligible for MA state medical license. Licensure in surrounding states a plus
- Must possess or be eligible for DEA license
- Must possess valid BLS, PALS, and ALS certifications.
