Trinity Rail Maintenance Services is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Estimating Analyst in our Dallas, TX headquarters!
The Estimating Analyst will be primarily responsible for producing railcar maintenance cost estimates, managing quote templates in RailCarRx, and reviewing and approving estimates. Key responsibility will be to support these processes on a day-to-day basis, implement identified processes, and drive system improvement initiatives. Success requires good communication, liaising, and interfacing with key cross-functional team members (e.g. Plant Personnel, Commercial, Engineering, Accounting, Sourcing, Operations, etc.) to maintain communication and keep key estimating up to date.
What you'll do:
- Participate and help lead & guide the maintenance Estimate Process.
- Responsible for loading quote templates into RailCarRX and keeping templates up to date in line with current pricing levels.
- Coordinate with maintenance plant customer service and write up inspection teams to support pricing template requests, audit pricing performance, and communicate updates.
- Prepare pricing quotes on request from commercial partners for external customers.
- Ability to understand railcar maintenance, particularly as it relates to cost estimation and maintenance requirements (both regulatory and car owner instructions).
- Ensure accurate and timely estimates and maintain pricing template database.
- Implement key process & system improvements in the Maintenance Estimating department.
- Increase current Program Manager capacity to work on continued improvements and enhancements for the department.
Qualifications
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing cost estimation/supply chain.
- Highly prefer a degree in Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or Finance.
- Business acumen to understand cost trends and ability to do back-of-the-envelope analysis.
- Previous experience with cost estimation in a railcar maintenance environment preferred.
- Knowledge of railcar maintenance regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Analytical and ability to work with data.
- Understanding of railcar maintenance repair processes on a shop floor.
- Knowledge of RailCarRX system and BRC structure.
- Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail to assure accuracy.
Nice to have:
- Understanding of maintenance business, preferably railcar maintenance.
- Background in railcar inspection and write-up.
- Accounting and financial background preferred.
- Data analytics and fundamental understanding of technology.
