The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Financial Readiness Specialist oversees and delivers a comprehensive financial education training and supportive services program emphasizing individual financial responsibility and accountability, improvement of economic well-being, and enhancement of the financial literacy of wounded warriors and family members. The Financial Readiness Specialist provides an individualized, holistic approach focused on long-term financial resiliency and stability for warriors and their families. This role also serves as a case manager providing personal assessments of the warrior's financial needs at critical times in their lives and connects them to internal and external financial resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver program services and financial education curriculum (e.g., seminars, briefs, and other presentations) to support and educate wounded service members and family support members to help them attain financial stability.
- Manage a Financial Readiness (FR) case load. Maintain detailed and relevant records including case notes, interaction entries, reporting requirements, and other documentation required for financial education and assistance cases.
- Coordinate with vendors and outside parties to provide warriors and their families with financial education e.g., financial education seminars and financial guidance, debt management, credit counseling, etc.
- Provide appropriate practical knowledge and educational guidance to empower warriors to make informed decisions and develop personalized plans to achieve financial resiliency.
- Conduct ongoing continued education, support, and goal setting to encourage accountability.
- Provide the best individualized experience to warriors, family support members, internal and external partners.
- Assist with continuous evaluation of ongoing financial education services to ensure program is meeting warrior needs.
- Serve as backup to the coordinator(s) for administrative and logistical support of the program as needed.
- Conduct non-clinical assessments of warriors and their family support members' financial situation and needs, triaging their hardship and financial circumstances, and responding appropriately to determine if their needs align with policy guidelines for emergency financial assistance.
- Provide urgent support to warriors and their family members in high-crisis, fast-paced situations by connecting them with immediate assistance for emergent financial needs.
- Record data systematically in the WWP system of record, Salesforce, to ensure accurate tracking and organization of information.
- Refer warriors and family members to appropriate WWP programs and community resources.
- Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Proficiency in personal financial management principles, including the ability to recognize ineffective money management habits and provide clear explanations on methods for improvement.
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and understanding of the unique needs of military, veterans, and their family members.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise good judgment when responding to crisis situations and sensitive matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities and complete assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding working environment.
- Possess effective public speaking skills, enabling the delivery of financial education information to large groups with clarity and impact.
- Ability to effectively communicate with, develop and maintain professional relationships with teammates and external partners of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Proficient in recognizing risks, identifying opportunities, and analyzing trends, with the ability to communicate these insights effectively to management.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
- Four years of experience in financial counseling, financial education, or personal financial management services.
- Two years of experience working with military or veteran's population.
Preferences
- Two years of experience with Salesforce.
- Two years of experience working with an event/planning scheduling system.
EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, financial management or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

For Colorado Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $60,211 - $75,264 annual base salary, subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Tacoma, Washington Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $65,945 - $82,432 annual base salary, subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For Washington, D.C. Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $68,812 - $86,016 annual base salary, subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
For New York Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $71,680 - $89,600 annual base salary, subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
