Position Description
We are seeking a Vice President, Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Operations Manager to join our Alternative Operations Team. Alternative Operations supports PIMCO's Alternatives business, which includes complex hedge funds and private equity vehicles. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for internal and external partners, including portfolio managers, risk and compliance, and service providers, requiring a deep understanding of bank loans, CLOs, and other complex fixed income structures. You will oversee day-to-day operational and client service activities, monitoring controls such as overdraft reports, annual reviews, and outstanding deal compliance.
As the CLO Operations Manager, you will be pivotal in managing CLO operations and risk management, ensuring seamless and efficient processes across our expanding CLO business. You will connect back, middle, and front office operations, establishing and maintaining internal controls to effectively manage compliance and operations in the CLO Warehouse Lending and Securitization business. Additionally, you will review all new CLO Warehousing Lending and Securitization Business documents and participate in special projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our team.

Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist business during the warehouse ramp-up phase to the CLO securitization phase.
Act as a liaison between Portfolio Management, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Product Strategy, and Tax on CLO-related inquiries.
Negotiate vendor contracts and provide management oversight of outsourced service providers, shadow compliance agents, trustees, and CLO technology partners.
Provide operational guidance on deal documents during the drafting process.
Attend industry conferences and stay updated on industry trends.
Serve as project manager for internal/external software implementations related to the CLO business.
Review models created by shadow compliance agents/trustees per indenture.
Assist Portfolio Managers in running hypothetical trading analyses to determine asset fit into CLOs based on size, concentration limits, etc., and work with PMs to adjust allocations accordingly.
Track subjective portfolio/asset attributes specific to PM views or indentures.
Coordinate and oversee warehouse facilities and CLO deal closings, working closely with PMs, underwriters, placement agents, etc., leading up to the closing date.
Provide oversight of daily asset, position, and cash reconciliations, ongoing attribute reconciliations with middle office, shadow compliance agents, and trustees.
Review and approve monthly/quarterly trustee reports.
Attend weekly CLO Management meetings to discuss pipeline, investment opportunities, and management best practices.
Position Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.
8-12 years of experience managing CLO operations directly on behalf of a collateral warehouse manager or managing an outsourced provider running CLO operations, including hands-on experience with:
Managing hypothetical trading processes.
Building and reviewing outsourced providers' models for all CLO indenture level tests, criteria, and credit classifications.
Selecting or reviewing Cov-Lite, Industry Classifications, and Ratings Agency determinations.
Managing CLO warehouse portfolio ramp-up.
Full CLO cycle experience - from warehouse to securitization, effective date through post-reinvestment period, and best practices in CLO management.
Demonstrated knowledge of the syndicated bank loans market, risk retention compliance, and CLO indentures credit agreement experience.
Prior use of CLO operations systems such as WSO Compliance, Sentry, Solvas, Allvue, Moody's Analytics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for client meetings.
Consistent track record managing CLO operations and managing outsourced providers.
Good working knowledge of Excel and Bloomberg is essential.
Understanding of SQL and database query tools is desirable.
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $142,000.00 - $230,000.00
