About the Position:
This position is located in the Fort Lauderdale office. The right candidate will be willing and able to travel 25% of the time to Tampa, West Palm Beach, and Miami. We are looking for a high-energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal skills. Someone who is a quick learner, flexible with exceptional organizational skills, precision, and the ability to self-review. Responsible for managing, planning and reviewing engagements; supervising staff, interacting with clients, tax preparation and review, and ensuring the completion of all engagements for clients in various industries.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates thorough technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching, completing and reviewing technical areas.
- Identifies tax risk management issues and proposes potential solutions through research and collaboration with Engagement Partner.
- Reviews tax procedures, engagement workpapers and financial statements without supervision.
- Completes thorough review of tax workpapers on a timely basis and assures audit evidence is in accordance with firm's documentation standards.
- Advanced tax review of returns.
- Reviews returns and disclosures for appropriateness in form, content, completeness, and accuracy.
- Reviews required communications to the client, ensuring their completeness, accuracy and compliance with Firm and professional guidelines.
- Addresses questions on advanced technical accounting matters from team members and upper level client management.
- Monitors that tasks are assigned and completed on a timely basis and reviews workflow.
- Oversee Seniors and Staff coordinating the day-to-day duties of planning, tax work, and wrap-up.
- Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement.
- Communicate with Partner on work status and client issues that arise.
- Conducts research, consults with team members, draws conclusions and prepares memos based on target issues.
- Perform a detailed review of team's workflow and monitor that tasks are assigned and completed on a timely basis.
- Primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that staff are unable to resolve; communicate effectively with clients and develop positive relationships with client personnel.
- Manage day-to-day with multiple client accounts, performing various tasks ranging from bookkeeping to lifestyle management.
- Accounts payable processing including wires, ACH payments, and checks related to capital calls/distributions, real estate/household income/disbursements, loan payments, trust distributions, annuity payments, and bank account reconciliations.
- Liaise with clients and their advisors, including banking, investment, insurance advisors and legal counsel.
- Willingness to accommodate clients' fluid, demanding needs.
- Assist with long-term financial planning for clients, including the preparation of budgets, net worth statements and cash flow statements.
- Review and maintain tax records to facilitate tax return preparation for various individual, family partnerships, LLC's, trusts, and charitable entities.
- Oversee and manage current and/or recurring payment calendars.
- Administration of payroll for domestic and business employees, including coordination of benefits such as 401(k) and medical.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.
- Assist with year-end 1099 reporting.
- Handling special projects, as needed.
- Keep up to date on industry laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Accounting required.
- CPA required.
- 7+ years' experience in a similar role.
- 4+ years' supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience managing engagements and clients.
- Ability to work independently, but also work well with others.
- Experience with Quickbooks.
- Experience with ProSystem Tax and ProSystem Engagement a plus.
- Takes a lead role in client and team meetings and contributes new ideas and strategic initiatives.
- Stays current on technical and industry developments and standards while evaluating potential impacts on their client engagements.
