AGENCY BACKGROUND:
Shiawassee Health and Wellness is the public Community Mental Health Service Provider in Shiawassee County. We manage the specialty behavioral health Medicaid benefit in Shiawassee County. Beyond providing a comprehensive service array geared to promote health, wellness and community connections–we serve as the safety net for anyone in the community experiencing a mental health crisis. Our clinical teams are dedicated to providing high quality services that produce positive outcomes. SHW operates with an annual budget of 29 million dollars. Our team works hard, under the direction of the CFO, to be fiscally responsible and ultimately remain financially stable. The CFO at SHW is fortunate to have an experienced skillful team in the finance department and many other resources available to support carrying out their duties.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Shiawassee Health and Wellness is seeking a CFO to administer, monitor and evaluate all aspects of the financial operations of the agency. The CFO will be responsible for the oversight and direction of Finance functions including, but not limited to, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory and purchasing.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepares and manages annual department budgets.
• Analyzes financial information to provide macro view of financial status, assesses impact to budget deviations, reports financial status monthly to Board of Directors.
• Directs the overall activity of the Finance Department, sets priorities with regard to financial management and monitors the financial system to ensure agency objectives are met.
• Provides guidance to Finance Department staff on accounting treatments for all transactions and monitors accounting activity to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GASB, Medicare, Medicaid and agency policies and procedures.
• Participates in and contributes to the strategic management of the organization. Serves on the Senior Leadership team contributing to the guidance and leadership of the organization to accomplish the agency mission.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Master’s Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Five or more years of experience as a Financial Manager in a government or behavioral healthcare setting is required, a Community Mental Health is preferred.
Minimum of two years experience as a supervisor or a department responsible for multiple fiscal operations.
Experience developing agency-wide budgets and establishing service rates for third party reimbursement.
Knowledge of Microsoft GP is also preferred.
