The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.
ABOUT THIS POSITION: The responsibility of this position is to handle a variety of administrative matters in the Litigation Division. Such matters include, but are limited to, preparing statutorily required reports to various agencies, providing DELTA information as needed by management, attorneys and division staff, drafting contracts for management's review, etc. The person performs high level administrative work in providing managerial assistance and professional administrative services to the Litigation Division. Work requires using independent judgment with supervision and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
Duties include, but are not limited to:Generates all needed reports from Cognos system, conducts all needed updated interest calculations, obtains all additional new case file information for inclusion, reviews all existing information to ensure accuracy of information reported for the timely submission of the annual attorney general report.Assists management, attorneys and staff with taxpayer information requests, data requests and research from DELTA system for the processing, handling and resolution of case files. Prepares vouchers to post tax payments in the DHTA system. Assists management, attorneys and staff in responding to taxpayer inquiries.Drafts outside counsel contracts for management's review and processes such contracts with all required reviewing agencies. A baccalaureate degree plus one year of professional level experience in accounting; budgeting; administrative services; economics; engineering; finance; health services or social service fields; human resources; policy planning; procurement; statistical analysis; tax enforcement; management analysis; or as a licensed attorney.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
A master's degree in accounting, business administration, business management, economics, finance, health administration, industrial/organizational psychology, political science, public administration, or public health will substitute for the one year of required experience.
A Juris Doctorate will substitute for the one year of required experience.
