The Clinical Director of BH is the lead position within the Department and is responsible for all aspects of organizational evaluation, planning, and management. The Director is also responsible for staff recruitment, retention, and ongoing staff development. Product line development, fiscal oversight, and departmental positioning within the community are also key aspects of this position. The clinical director monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of social services and therapeutic services furnished.
The director has oversight over all clinical staff within the 4 inpatient units that fall under the BH and Addictions service line, as well as IOP and outpatient services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interface with psychiatrists, psychiatric APRNs, and interfacing physicians.
- Maintain effective relationships with external organizations that partner and interface with the department.
- Design, develop, and implement business initiatives and evaluate effectiveness.
- Maintain state and federal regulatory compliance standards at all times.
- Ensure staff follow established clinical policies and procedures.
- Along with VP, establish, maintain, and adhere to Performance Improvement indicators and plans for clinicians and masters prepared staff within BH and Addictions.
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage for IP, IOP, and OP social workers, therapists, discharge planners, care coordinators, and creative arts team.
- Provide additional training/assistance to clinical staff. Be responsible for all education, training, and development needs for the teams.
- Supervise or assign supervision of unlicensed staff on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
- Build structured programming from the ground up for the IP units and ensure IOP programming is functioning appropriately.
- Maintain a strong milieu schedule on the IP units.
- Audit the quality of documentation of the clinical team in its entirety – assessments, daily notes, group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, care coordination documentation, discharge and placement planning documentation, creative arts, and recreational therapist documentation.
- Supervise the work of the entire clinical team on all levels of BH and Addictions care.
- Establish a weekly multi-disciplinary staffing plan for all patients on the IP unit. This treatment team meeting/staffing consists of nurses, clinicians, DC planners, and providers, along with the patient/family, and the patient’s treatment plan is discussed.
- Along with VP, be a liaison of BH and Addictions services throughout the hospital. Maintain good relationships via efficient throughput and workflows with all clinical and non-clinical hospital departments, administration, and leaders.
- Respond to complaints, grievances, and involve self in investigations.
- Be responsible for maintaining program and clinical accreditation standards for the health center and maintaining BH and SUD standards of care.
- Plan the staffing and scheduling of the team.
- Work on timecards and payroll.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree. Master’s degree required in SW/Counseling. PsyD/PhD highly desirable.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience.
- Current IL Licensure as LCSW, Psychologist, or LCPC.
