The anticipated salary range for this role is between $225,000.00 and $255,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Head of Market Risk Technology to join our Risk Technology Team. The Head of Market Risk Technology will play a pivotal role in leading a team responsible for developing and implementing technology solutions to support market risk management activities. The role will report into the Head of Risk Technology.
Role Objectives
- Lead a team of talented professionals in the development and implementation of leading-edge technology solutions to enhance market risk measurement, monitoring, and reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Coordinate and manage a portfolio of strategic projects and activities, providing transparency of progress against the strategic roadmap.
- Coordinate and manage key senior meetings to present updates, emerging risks and manage action items.
- This role requires strong technical and operational skills to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our production processes, ensure system availability, and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills
- 10+ years of professional experience at banks or similar financial institutions with a focus on Market Risk Technology.
- Prior experience on buildouts and deep understanding of Market Risk metrics such as VaR, sVar, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis across FX, Fixed Income, Commodities and Equities.
- Experience working with market data sources, financial instruments, and trading systems.
- Key technical skillsets must include prior experience with Python/Java (Python preferable) and Cloud Computing architecture.
- Knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and Data Science platforms like Databricks.
- Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment.
- Knowledge of project management frameworks including Waterfall and Agile (Required) and tools such as JIRA and MS Project.
- BA/BS degree required.
