We are looking for a highly motivated, curious, and independent-thinking individual who is eager to take ownership and to contribute to revolutionizing the world of medical robotics while helping make Noah a great place to work.
A Day In The Life Of Our Sr. Controls Engineer:
- Designs and implements control systems: Develops algorithms and software that govern robot behavior, ensuring precise movements and desired responses.
- Develops calibration strategies: Implements procedures and methods to tune the control algorithms and parameters for nonlinear systems. Thoroughly documents their technical work.
- Creates mathematical models of nonlinear systems: Creates mathematical representations of robot mechanics to predict behavior, analyze performance, and optimize control strategies.
- Designs and executes experiments: Plans and executes comprehensive testing procedures to evaluate control system functionality, identifies potential issues, and verifies robot performance under various conditions.
- Collaborates with peers: Works closely with mechanical, electrical, software, and clinical engineers to drive effective integration of controls within the overall robotic system.
- Develops high-standard software for the implementation, testing, and integration of algorithms: Develops and maintains controls algorithm software and unit tests in Python and C++ programming languages and participates in design and code reviews.
- Is hands-on with hardware and deeply understands mechanical design and user needs: Possesses practical experience with the robotic hardware, intimately understanding the user's requirements and translates them into control systemspecifications for optimal performance and functionality. Is routinely hands-on in clinical labs and internalizes the user’s experience and feedback.
- Contributes to risk analysis, requirements, and documentation for a medical product.
About You:
- Has earned, at minimum, an M.S. degree with 3 years of relevant working experience or Ph.D. degree - each in Mechanical, Controls, Robotics or related Engineering disciplines.
- Has experience with controls system development, modeling, and implementation on hardware systems.
- Is able to break complex problems down into smaller pieces.
- Has thorough theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in kinematics, dynamics, feedback control, sensors, and actuators. Familiarity with position, velocity, torque, and current control.
- Is able to work independently, and the determination to get through challenging problems.
- Is an excellent communicator who is capable of providing concise explanations of problems they are trying to solve and their thought process.
- Enjoys documenting their work thoroughly to better empower others on the team to learn from their work, and to build from it.
- Experience with rapid prototyping algorithms in Python and C++.
