Overview
AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has a need for AVP of Commercial Auto and Trucking claims. The successful candidate will supervise Auto and Trucking teams, handling all aspects of claims and demonstrate a thorough understanding of process and best in class claims handling. Effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and execute based on critical objectives and the ability to coach and develop direct reports are skills that are critical to success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Owns the development and performance of Trucking and Commercial Auto claims teams, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of commercial liability claims of the highest complexity and/or severity. Continuously develops talent by creating opportunities for direct reports to grow and strengthen new skills.
- Monitors the performance of their team, analyzing any problematic trends to identify root cause problems. Escalates issues or may recommend solutions to operational leadership. Advocates a culture committed to identifying process efficiencies to continuously improve how work is completed.
- Demonstrates a passion and vision towards a highly effective and engaged employee culture. Selects top talent, delivers continuous coaching, recognizes employees to reinforce behaviors that ensure service excellence, and holds others accountable for the development of their teams.
- Advocates claims customer service excellence by building an understanding of the customer experience that meets and exceeds stakeholders' expectations.
- Creates and implements a quality agenda, including executing the existing program while building and growing a future state program commensurate with the size and needs of the organization.
- Identifies changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high quality outcomes, and develops training solutions to embed and sustain those practices in the organization.
- Identifies changes in technology to support the execution of those practices and workflows, and works with IT counterparts in the design, build, and test of those changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in claims leadership roles within the insurance industry.
- Minimum of 10 years of Commercial Auto and/or Motor Carrier bodily injury claims experience, including excess/umbrella.
- Multi-jurisdictional expertise.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced degree, including Juris Doctor (J.D.), preferred.
- Ability to manage a diverse group of claims teams located in multiple locations.
- Directly manage and guide a team of Managers responsible for overseeing the handling of all aspects of claims.
- Regularly participate in claims roundtable discussions focusing on claims issues surrounding coverage, liability and assessment of damages.
- Work with direct managers/supervisors to evaluate the performance of the claims staff at regular intervals to ensure the consistent implementation of company standards and internal quality control by conducting audits and regular file reviews.
- Work with direct reports to manage the negotiation of claims settlements to ensure cost effective resolution of claims.
- Ensure that all AmTrust policies, procedures and controls are followed; ensure claims are handled in accordance to state regulations and guidelines.
- Review and refine claims process and systems to improve efficiency and consistency in claims handling.
