SUMMARY: Develops and maintains revenue accountability through the management of a small group of sales professionals. Develops new prospects and interacts with existing customers to increase sales of products and/or services. Is the catalyst towards moving the maritime industry to more sustainable and solutions-oriented practices.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads sales team to deliver value-added services.
- Acts as a liaison between field sales and operations to resolve customer issues, foster customer relations, and develop new business.
- Work directly with customers to develop new business, champion pricing actions, proposal development, and service contract negotiations.
- Subject matter expert in marine vessel design processes.
- Implement directives from management and advise management on issues.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Convert technical and regulatory knowledge of the industry into sales with multiple clients.
- Create reports on existing design plans and procedures to advise on emerging sales cycles and opportunities in the market.
- Confer with naval architects on various projects.
- Develop and respond to requests for proposals with input from the technical team.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, maritime industry, or related area; or a combination of post-high school education and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 5-10 years marine-related sales experience.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Access, and Word.
COMPETENCIES:

- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in various stages of completion.
- Ability to assess project risks and exposures; identify options and alternatives, make decisions and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to promote and build a team atmosphere and motivate team members.
- Ability to organize, manage, and lead at the project, program, and portfolio level.
- Ability to prepare, monitor, and administer budgets and perform financial analysis.
- Knowledge of project management, planning, and cost control management.
- Knowledge of marine, mechanical, and/or chemical engineering principles.
- Knowledge of contract negotiation and administration for commercial and government customers.
- Knowledge of tugboats and the marine industry.
OTHER: Travel is required. Subject to a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check to obtain your driving history.
JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and outside in varying temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels, and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to access restricted areas and climb ladders. May require extended use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
