The Risk & Control Self-Assessment (“RCSA”) Senior Consultant role operates within Second Line of Defense Non-Financial Risk team to help various Risk & Compliance functions execute the RCSA program, ensuring compliance with program framework and guidance. The Facilitator serves as a subject matter expert by advising and guiding the business to properly identify risks and controls and documenting them appropriately. RCSAs require collaboration with various stakeholders while influencing parties towards strategic goals. Candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be detail oriented be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment, can challenge the group think mindset and have an inquisitive nature that allows them to ask probing questions.In order to perform this role, a high level of interaction is required with senior leaders and business areas at all levels of the organizationand be able to apply critical thinking to review and challenge the information provided.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Execute on Northern Trust’s RCSA program by facilitating a value-added RCSA product that captures the risk and control environment of the business while adhering to policy, standards, and guidebook requirements
- Lead effective meetings with clearly stated objectives that drive desired outcomes and timely execution
- Negotiate and build consensus within a group
- Engage with other stakeholders and business partners to ensure key relevant risks and controls are identified, assessed, and documented
- Work with Process Owners, Control Owners, and Control Management Experts to identify and document processes, risks, and controls
- Liaise with Business Unit Control leads, other Subject Matter Experts, and Central Operational Risk to identify, develop, and implement program enhancements
- Support Quality Control activities
- Recognized as a subject matter expert by advising and guiding RCSA activities
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years plus of experience in Financial Services, Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Finance, or Accounting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Financial Services, Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Finance, or Accounting
- Demonstrable experience of Enterprise Risk / Operational Risk management
- Ability to quickly learn the Bank’s RCSA procedures, processes, and systems
- Proven track record of delivering timely, high-quality results
- Ability to leverage relationship management capabilities and problem-solve
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional organization, analysis, decision-making, and problem-resolution skills
- Ability to simultaneously balance multiple priorities and deliverables
