Kinetica is partnered with a Food Contract Manufacturer and Distributor in Los Angeles, CA on a Vice President of Purchasing opening.
The VP of Purchasing will be responsible for overseeing the procurement function within the organization, including the development and execution of purchasing strategies and policies aimed at securing necessary products and services while minimizing costs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develops a sourcing strategy to ensure a consistent supply of raw materials, packaging, and labels.
- Establishes criteria for vendor evaluation and selection.
- Identifies purchasing trends within the organization and seeks opportunities for cost reduction through purchase consolidation.
- Sets goals and defines metrics to measure the performance of purchasing processes.
- Negotiates complex or high-value vendor contracts.
- Provides leadership and direction to team members, including coaching, development, and managing employment actions.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to align departmental strategy with overall organizational goals.
- Responsible for strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Shapes business strategy and aligns goals to achieve company objectives.
- Offers executive oversight of purchasing department project initiatives, monitoring progress against strategic objectives.
- Establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures with a significant impact on the organization's long-term success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field required.
- Extensive experience in purchasing management.
- Strong leadership skills, including development and mentoring of others, and ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of MRP applications.
