New Site Development Department
The New Site Development team drives the technology, innovation and new development of data center infrastructure across Vantage's companywide portfolio. The department evaluates new sites, drives cost and scheduling in line with corporate goals and serves as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. The team collaborates with Sales, Operations and management along the way.
New Site Dev also works hand in hand with the Construction team to come up with a vertically integrated design and ensures new and existing standards and designs are executed effectively. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our technical staff are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive tangible results. Our team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high-impact decisions and results.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Site Selection to lead our efforts in identifying, evaluating, and securing optimal locations for our data center facilities. This executive role is critical in ensuring that our data centers are situated in geographically advantageous, cost-effective, and operationally efficient locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate, site selection, and project management within the technology or data center industry.
This role can be based in any of our US locations: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.
Essential Job Functions
- Strategic Site Identification:
- Develop and implement strategies for identifying and selecting new data center sites globally.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify potential locations that meet technical, economic, and regulatory requirements.
- Assess geographic factors, including proximity to power sources, fiber connectivity, and environmental risks.
- Due Diligence and Evaluation:
- Perform thorough due diligence on prospective sites, including site visits, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
- Analyze zoning laws, land use regulations, environmental impact, and other local factors.
- Evaluate infrastructure availability and reliability, such as power supply, water access, and transportation networks.
- Financial and Legal Analysis:
- Develop and manage financial models to assess the cost implications of potential sites.
- Work with legal teams to negotiate and secure land acquisitions, leases, and development agreements.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
- Project Management:
- Lead cross-functional teams in the site selection process, coordinating with engineering, operations, finance, and legal departments.
- Develop and manage project timelines and budgets for site acquisition and development.
- Oversee site development activities from selection through to construction readiness.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with local government officials, utility providers, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent the company at public hearings, community meetings, and industry conferences.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to secure incentives and support for site development.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Provide regular updates and detailed reports to senior leadership on site selection progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Maintain comprehensive records of site evaluations, agreements, and project documentation.
- Develop and present business cases for site selection decisions.
- Additional duties as assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in site selection, real estate, or project management, with a significant portion in the data center or technology industry.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed market and financial analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of land acquisition, zoning, environmental regulations, and infrastructure requirements.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proven project management abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Travel required is expected to be up to 20% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details
- Salary Range: $220,000 - $250,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations).
- This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.
- Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
