Allied Universal is hiring a Senior Tax Director. The Senior Director will manage the organization’s Global Tax Provision, as well as oversee the North America provision, compliance, and audit activities. This role is responsible for leading the daily tax operations of the North America tax function, including managing the tax personnel, establishing tax policies, implementing processes and procedures, and ensuring all tax documentation and returns are prepared and timely filed. The Senior Director will be responsible for technical research, implementation of tax law changes, and communicating tax matters to the executive leadership and internal stakeholders, as well as external partners. They will report directly to the Global Head of Tax, as well as manage a small team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Global quarterly and annual tax provisions, and financial disclosures
- Worldwide U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) income tax reporting for all foreign entities
- Responsible for effective internal control environment to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations
- Preparation of global cash tax forecast and analysis
- Management of the tax team preparing the U.S. tax provision and the U.S. domestic and international tax compliance for corporate and partnership income tax returns and US foreign disclosure returns prepared by the external tax service providers
- Mentor and develop tax staff and identify ways to improve existing processes that enhance the team’s experience, knowledge, and efficiencies
- Oversee the North America federal, state, and foreign income tax audits
- Management of tax-related expenses and coordination of the US tax operations with the international tax team
- Perform technical research and consult with management and the external auditors to ensure that proper accounting treatment is applied and documented for all transactions
- Work on projects to minimize tax burden and reduce the Company's effective tax rate and cash taxes
- Adoption of new tax software and implement processing changes as required
- Support Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions and integration activities and special projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Must possess one or more of the following:
- Certified Public Accountant
- Master’s degree in Business Taxation
- Juris Doctor
- Minimum of eight (8) years of tax management experience with either Big 4 (or equivalent) or a large corporate tax department of a multi-national company
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing U.S. and foreign income tax compliance and provisions
- Well-rounded tax background with progressive tax experience, including management level responsibilities
- Expert knowledge of ASC 740 (Income Tax Accounting)
- C Corp and Partnership Taxation
- In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of corporate federal and state income tax law and corporate indirect taxes
- Proficient in computer skills and applications, including Word, Excel, and OneSource
- Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced, high growth environment
- Outstanding leadership and people management skills and a proven track record of managing and motivating, successful accounting teams in a growing environment; strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with business leaders across the organization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax personnel; able to effectively communicate with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, state, local, independent auditors, attorneys, support peers and all levels of corporate management
- Demonstrate the company’s core values and complies with all Company policies and procedures
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions and expectations
- Self-starter with the ability and willingness to exercise independent judgment and take appropriate action
- Strong time management skills; able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities/expectations in accordance with strict deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and statutory reporting requirements
- Exemplary tax and accounting research skills
- Experience with tax research software
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- Pay: $190,000 - $210,000 annual base, plus 20% annual bonus
- Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance
- Enrollment in our company’s 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirements
- 8 paid holidays annually, 5 sick days, and 4 personal days
- Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
