Brief Job Overview
This is a non-supervisory, mid-management position responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive business and marketing plan that addresses all aspects of the marketing mix (price, product/service, promotion, and distribution/channel) which will drive maximum impact (revenue, gross profit, expenses, capital investments and public health) for the Complex Generics portfolio.
The Senior Manager, Industry Programs – Complex Generics develops and executes the global strategic marketing and operations strategy for the program unit. The candidate co-leads a cross functional Program Unit Team working collaboratively with the Scientific Lead for Complex Generics. Together, the Program Unit co-leads will work to apply strategic marketing and scientific insights to documentary and physical standards development and other key products or services for Complex Generics. The candidate has primary responsibility for bringing the customer voice and market understanding to drive impact, profit, and losses for the program, and will draw on resources from various functions across the organization to support the program strategy.

The Senior Manager, Industry Programs – Complex Generics has the following responsibilities:
- Leads all global strategic marketing efforts for Complex Generics program area, aligning marketing strategies with parallel program/business units to ensure a comprehensive set of solutions is being provided to customers and stakeholders.
- Ensures that customer and product development within program area is strategically focused.
- Selects and prioritizes Complex Generics standards and aligns priorities with parallel program/business units.
- Monitors customer satisfaction and understands customer needs and desires, thus informing marketing strategy.
- Tracks and oversees program area’s impact on Profit & Loss.
- Makes key decisions and oversees the execution of program operations.
- Co-leads Program Unit with Science Head; aligns on key strategies and resource prioritization, and compromises to find fair trade-offs between competing interests if necessary.
- Develops and conducts customer and product profitability analyses.
- Identifies and recommends appropriate actions to improve customer and product profitability.
- Identifies opportunities to capture value from improved pricing or other initiatives.
- Leads budget planning and revenue forecasting for Program Unit.
- Works with marketing communications to guide the development of product marketing materials, including product brochures, sales tools advertisements, digital and social content, and any other promotional material required to support the execution of the multi-channel Complex Generics marketing plan.
- Applies business knowledge to identify new business opportunities recommending new products, systems, and services to USP.
- Working with cross-functional groups (e.g., marketing communications, market intelligence, science, U.S., and global sales teams) to build alignment and drive results.
Who is USP Looking For?
The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent and an MBA.
- At least five years of experience, majority of which is in a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related organization.
- At least five years of experience in a marketing function, preferably in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related organization.
- At least two years of experience in a technical role at a pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related organization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient at developing, executing, and measuring marketing plans.
- Ability to excel in a cross-functional environment.
- A strong work ethic.
Additional Desired Preferences
- A Master’s degree in life sciences or equivalent and an MBA.
- At least eight years of experience in pharma, healthcare, or related industry, with a combination of commercial and technical roles.
- At least four years of experience in a technical role at a pharmaceutical or related organization.
- An understanding of USP, the pharmaceutical industry and use of USP standards.
