Come join the CG TurboTax Analytics team as a Principal Business Analyst where you will be responsible for transforming how we forecast and project business outcomes. You will partner closely with senior leadership, customer & business strategy, finance, and cross-functional analytics teams to identify our biggest risks & opportunities and drive decisions that help TurboTax deliver on its business growth goals. To be successful, you’ll rely on a combination of strengths including predictive modeling, business acumen / analytics, and executive-level communication. This role will provide broad exposure to the entire business where you’ll become a subject matter expert on the customer and funnel dynamics behind a top brand and $3B+ business.
Responsibilities
- Build in-season projections (i.e. “latest estimates) through a series of AI/ML models used to inform risks & opportunities and drive strategic decisions
- Produce daily forecasts (i.e time series models) across key funnel metrics that contextualize daily performance results
- Cultivate and grow partnership with finance team to provide clarity on business performance and actions that will drive growth
- Apply data science and advanced analytics techniques to explain key business results and outcomes
- Present insights behind key business results, including customer retention and acquisition, to senior leadership
- Contribute to the annual business plan forecast, a key artifact used to hold teams accountable to growth targets
- Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, respond effectively to unexpected obstacles and reallocate resources as necessary
- Work effectively in fast-moving, high urgency environments
- Bring an innovative mindset, continuously pushing and challenging the status quo to improve our business and analytics capabilities in service of driving high-impact decisions
- Own and prioritize the team’s capability roadmap, and partner directly with business partners to effectively communicate prioritization
- Serve as a coach and mentor to more junior analysts (with opportunity to expand into people management within 1-2 years)
- 8+ years of experience in an Analytical, Finance, or similar role
- 3+ years of analytics experience in a D2C business with strong understanding of customer retention and/or funnel data
- 2+ years of experience building business forecasts and leveraging time series models (e.g. Facebook Prophet)
- Expertise in programming languages and stats packages (e.g. Python, R); comfortable creating re-usable data sets with high-quality data
- Fluency in data analysis, including defining KPIs, statistical and predictive modeling concepts, descriptive statistics, customer segmentation, and funnel analysis
- Demonstrates strong business acumen and curiosity
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to interact with business leaders to make business recommendations
- Passionate about mentoring others and the advancement of the team
