Job Purpose
Our Director of Sales will be responsible for developing, leading and executing the business segment’s strategy and profitability, growing sales and gross profit annually. This role will lead a sales team and will collaborate with the Design, Sourcing, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations and Field Sales Teams to develop customer solutions that exceed expectations and uses first-hand customer information to drive programs and project success.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team of sales professionals to exceed customer expectations and grow the portfolio profitably each year, in collaboration with the Design Centers, Sourcing, Marketing, Operations and Field Sales Teams.
- Develop, communicate and deliver strategy for the team to exceed targets and goals.
- Win new business by targeting key accounts and developing innovative solutions that bring value to customer and displaces competition.
- Recruit, train, develop and hold their sales team accountable for delivering results and meeting performance expectations.
- Gather information, develops material and presents the capabilities and proposals that demonstrate Veritiv’s Value Added Solutions for potential customers with the intent to solve their problems and exceed their current model, to close new business.
- Ensure that the sales pipeline supports the appropriate value of opportunities to achieve the sales growth objectives.
- Develop close relationships with key executives and all other relevant decision makers at customer accounts and conducts QBRs with key customers.
- Deliver financial metrics that drive and improve financial returns.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications
- 10+ years of packaging industry sales with extensive experience and service knowledge related to kitting and co-packing and selling at C-suite level, is required.
- Strong strategic planning capabilities.
- Proven track record of providing custom solutions based on providing value, not just a lower price, and profitable sales growth.
- Innovative problem solver; recognizing customer needs, providing alternatives and selling and implementing alternative solutions. The Sales Director will develop customer solutions that make the complex simple.
- Up to 50% travel may be necessary.
Work Experience
- 10-15 years of related job experience.
- 5-10 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
- Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
- Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Physical Requirements
- A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.
- The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
