Senior General Counsel - Wisconsin Assembly Republican Caucus
The Wisconsin Assembly Republican Caucus is seeking a Senior General Counsel to the Speaker of the Assembly. This position reports to the Speaker's Chief of Staff and is responsible for leading and coordinating legal responses to any legal, or potential legal, challenges to the Assembly and the Legislature. This position also serves as the primary legal resource at the Assembly and engages, as required, on legal matters related to policy, procedure, rules, personnel, open records and ethics. In addition, the Senior General Counsel serves as legal advisor to the Speaker and contributes or coordinates legal research, opinions and counsel on a wide range of legal and policy topics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Law degree and ability to be admitted to practice law in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of three to four (3-4) years of experience in the practice of law, preferably in a governmental legal capacity or private sector litigation.
- Preferred experience in appellate law, working in the field of politics, and knowledge of litigation strategy, procedure, and protocol.
Salary: The salary range for the Senior General Counsel position is between $88,703 and $135,218, depending upon experience, and includes generous state benefits.
