Associate General Counsel Sr. - Pharmacy
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our PulsePoint locations.
The Associate General Counsel Sr. - Pharmacy will serve as an Associate General Counsel Sr. to CarelonRx, a pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) owned by Elevance Health. This position will be responsible for serving as a subject matter expert on pharmacy law, specifically infusion and specialty pharmacies, strategy, licensing, compliance, innovation, and regulatory matters. As such, this position requires a keen understanding of the business, legal, and regulatory environment relevant to both infusion and specialty pharmacies.
How you will make an impact:
- This person will serve as a key partner to our business leaders in developing adaptive and market-leading strategies to support both infusion and specialty pharmacy business, and to further its growth and provide advice and recommendations on highly complex matters which have a broad organizational impact and high level of risk.
- Serves as an expert for other attorneys and legal staff as well as business clients instructing and advising on strategic, technical, and tactical issues.
- Work collaboratively with other teams, including legal, compliance, regulatory affairs, in supporting the business.
- In a complex and evolving regulatory environment, provide sound, actionable legal advice on regulatory, business, and operational matters impacting infusion and specialty owned pharmacies.
- Build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.
- Provides concise and timely briefings to the General Counsel, senior-level business, and upper-level legal management.
- Works on extremely complex and multifaceted problems in which analysis of solutions and/or facts requires an evaluation of intangible variables.
- Develops methods, approaches, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Manages and participates in extensive research of legal principles and precedents and consults with outside counsel on legal strategies on particular issues.
- Other legal duties and responsibilities as identified by the General Counsel.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 15 years specific pharmacy industry and/or technical legal experience post-licensure including serving as the legal lead in supporting both infusion and specialty pharmacies; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:
- This position is regarded as an expert in its area of expertise due to the combination of advanced legal and business knowledge. Experienced in assessing and mitigating risk on the most difficult and challenging issues and managing high-level organizational risks is highly preferred.
- Displays strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to coordinate and work across multiple departments to achieve the desired outcome, preferred.
- Experienced and technically strong in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and related documents impacting pharmacies including Provider Agreements, 340B, Payor, procurement of goods and services, strongly preferred.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary range for this specific position is $194,040 to $332,640.
