A bit about the role:
We're seeking a fun and flexible Nonprofit CFO to join our team and help support the small nonprofit organization we serve. This role is pivotal in supporting organizations on a mission to support their communities and change lives. We're looking for someone who has a passion for nonprofit and has proven leadership in supporting mission-based organizations.
As the CFO, day-to-day you'll be working alongside an Accountant and Controller to collaborate and deliver accounting services to a wide range of nonprofit clients.

You're adaptable. We work primarily with smaller organizations that have big goals. Being adaptable to help meet their needs and goals is a large part of the role. Each client is unique and has different needs, so being able to jump into each client to advise and assist is key.
You're curious and want to dig in. You want to know exactly what drives each organization. You are driven to find the KPIs behind the organization and help these nonprofits set strategic goals to continue to support their missions.
More about the CFO role:
Wearing multiple hats and saying yes to a variety of challenges are the table stakes. Your specific responsibilities will be to:
- Provide oversight of the overall accounting function through analysis of financial statements and providing counsel to the accounting team.
- Work with clients to develop and implement strategic plans, shifting the clients' perspective from the day-to-day challenges to focus on the key priorities for long-term success.
- Prepare and deliver quarterly Strategic Business Updates.
- Develop annual operating plans along with ongoing analysis of variances from the planned outcomes.
- Develop long-range cash forecasts.
- Manage multiple client relationships.
- Be a proactive liaison with the clients' banker, attorney, investors, etc.
- Create and provide financial modeling to help clients understand and plan for the impact of future events or decisions.
Additional CFO responsibilities include:
- Serve as a member of the executive management team, attending board meetings as requested by the client.
- Provide financial coaching to clients' leadership to help clients make informed financial decisions.
- Assist clients with contract negotiations by fostering strong relationships and evaluating terms to help minimize risks and maximize benefits.
- Evaluate terms of debt instruments, comparing competing offers and negotiating for the best possible terms.
- Assess KPIs and what the opportunities and risks are for the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by clients or other team members.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration. CPA is a big bonus but not necessary.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Love to approach work and life with positive energy and enthusiasm.
- Enjoyment of handling multiple clients, fostering strong relationships, mentoring others and processing large amounts of information.
- Background working for or in nonprofit organizations.

Hourly Pay - $60-$90/hour DOE.
