Summary:
The Director, Proteomics Core (Director) oversees the day-to-day operations of the Proteomics Core. This oversight encompasses a broad range of Core scientific, operational, and budgetary functions. The Director serves as a scientific and technical proteomics resource for the Institute’s investigators. The Director receives scientific input from the Core’s Scientific Director and operational guidance from the VP, Scientific Resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of the Core facility, including project design, scheduling, sample and process tracking, quality analysis of results, instrumentation troubleshooting, and billing for services.
- Develop standard operating protocols, determine metrics for quality assessment, and track the quality of proteomics services.
- Develop and implement proteomics data analysis tools to enhance data mining and interpretation.
- Process samples using (2D)LC-MS/MS, provide proteomics data analysis including advanced statistical data mining using R Bioconductor packages.
- Interface with faculty, staff scientists, postdocs, and grad students to support their projects, and collaborate with other SBP Core facilities for interdisciplinary projects.
- Initiate or support grant proposals, track publications and grants enabled by the Core facility’s resources and services.
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize proteomics protocols, technologies, and applications.
- Ensure equitable access to Core services, provide technical training, market the Core facility's resources, oversee equipment maintenance, and manage the Core facility budget.
- Work with the Associate Director and VP to ensure financial sustainability of the Core.
- Utilize the iLab Core management system for workflow enhancement, project tracking, and financial analysis.
- Ensure emergency backup systems are operational and act as a key contact for infrastructure and equipment emergencies.
Education and/or Experience:
Requires a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or a related field, significant postdoctoral experience in Proteomics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation:
The Expected Hiring Range for this role is $114,000 - $142,000 annually.
