Position Summary:
As a key advisor to the CMO, this position will play an essential role in setting and delivering the overarching Medical Affairs strategic plan and is accountable to directly support defined operational and strategic projects. A key deliverable of this role is to provide organizational support to the CMO to enhance the effectiveness of the CMO and act as a valuable resource to the rest of the medical function. Facilitate internal communications and ensure connections are made on behalf of the CMO for both internal and external activities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
In direct support of the CMO, you will be accountable to:
- Facilitate and manage a broad range of projects to help ensure attainment of strategic priorities consistent with corporate goals. Work with leadership team members individually and collectively on key business projects.
- Assist CMO and the Medical Leadership team in developing and communicating overarching medical affairs strategy and its components internally and externally.
- Work with the leadership team to develop goals, monitor and report progress against goals, triaging and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Lead CMO-LT meetings, town halls, and support team structure, development, and engagement discussions.
- Design and execute initiatives for cohesion, ensuring alignment and engagement among teams and departments, integrating information and data across the organization.
- Support the CMO in preparing annual budget planning for the Medical Affairs organization, driving quarterly/monthly business reviews, and managing the annual operating cycle.
- Support the development and preparation of executive-level presentations for internal and external meetings.
- Support CMO and PV team in safety case management, adjudication, and reconciliation.
- Represent CMO and Medical Strategy and Evidence Generation on Portfolio Strategy Leadership Team.
- Identify and prioritize key issues early and expedite resolution by integrating information, analysis, and evaluation to provide an informed perspective and propose solutions.
- Organize and drive the rhythm of decision making and outputs to feed into key meetings and initiatives.
- Influence appropriate stakeholders and ensure appropriate prioritization and project management to support the business in meeting their objectives.
- Optimize external engagements for CMO and ensure transparent communication across relevant teams.
- Project manage the CMOs deliverables, commitments, and time.
Education, Registration & Certification:
- Ph.D., PharmD, or other advanced scientific degree with a minimum of 10+ years of operating experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
Experience:
- Extensive background in Medical Affairs or broad knowledge about drug development and commercialization.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience interacting with executive leadership and important external stakeholders.
- High EQ with ability to earn the respect and trust of the CMO, leadership, and cross-functional colleagues.
- Highly skilled at communicating scientific and clinical information within the drug development environment, including expert use of PowerPoint and other presentation tools.
- Significant cross-functional leadership capabilities - ability to lead, collaborate, and influence.
- Possesses the judgement, skills, and knowledge needed to appropriately represent the CMO in both internal and external meetings.
