Principal Engineer, Generative AI PCB/EDA Startup
Electronics are pervasive in modern life and foundational for the global economy. As a result, the electronics services industry responsible for design of electronic devices is a $274Bn industry with tooling growing at an impressive 9.5% CAGR. However, the tools and processes for design and test of circuit boards are stuck in the past. They’re outdated, ineffective, and ripe for disruption as engineers are pushed to do more with less.
We’re reinventing how engineers approach PCB design with modern, AI-powered tools that work for the engineer – not the other way around. We imagine tooling that fundamentally understands the circuits engineers build with the mission to save time, reduce costs, and accelerate time-to-market.
Join us as we democratize zero respins for all engineers.
What are we doing?
We are making electronics design accessible and correct from the first print by blending generative AI, ML, and classical approaches to electronics simulation and validation. By giving every engineer intelligent and automated access to the most advanced validation tools we believe we can eliminate respins – helping engineers of all levels deliver their designs faster, cheaper, and with less waste.
Who are we?
We are a small team passionate about eliminating respins and fundamentally changing how electrical engineers deliver PCBs with higher confidence. We are an early stage company backed by the Allen Institute for AI, who we’ve partnered with to build a revolutionary product.
Are you the right fit?
We are seeking an exceptional tech lead to join our founding team to revolutionize electronics design automation (EDA) tools for printed circuit boards (PCBs). You might be the right fit if you have experience building SaaS or cloud-based products with a strong user-focus. You aren’t afraid to get hands on, write code, and talk to customers - and you’re excited at the prospect of building the best team of engineers as we grow.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of building out and refining our early-stage SaaS product to maximize the success of our first customers.
- Hire, manage, and mentor a team of skilled software engineers and ML experts
- Oversee the development of scalable, reliable, and secure systems and infrastructure.
- Work with the executive team to plan and execute our technology strategy, including resourcing and budgeting.
- Contribute to strategic planning and shape our future direction and culture.
- Manage strategic relationships with technical partners.
- Help design your role, the team, and the company to deliver the most impact to our customers.
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ experience in software engineering
- Experience in leading technical teams as a manager or other forms of leadership
- Extensive knowledge and experience in cloud software and architectures, including deploying and managing machine-learning solutions.
- Experience and passion for focusing teams on building customer-first products that delight users.
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on learning, understanding, and conveying feedback from customers.
- Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and curiosity to explore new approaches to old problems.
- Strong working proficiency in English as you will work with customers across North America and beyond.
It’s not required, but is a bonus if you are:
- Knowledgeable or experienced with electronics hardware and circuit board design
- Familiar with the EDA tooling industry
We recognize that the best candidates do not always match the limited criteria mentioned in the job description but if you are excited about our vision and feel that you could be a valuable member of our team, please don't hesitate to apply.
Why you’ll love working with us:
- Impact – You’ll have the chance to make a significant impact now only for our customers, but on how the industry as a whole approaches test and validation.
- Care – we believe strongly in caring for each other. We encourage our people to bring their whole selves to work, support each other, and ensure they are happy in and out of the workplace.
- Unique Learning Opportunities – You'll have access to an unparalleled level of expertise and knowledge in this exploding landscape of generative AI. We count AI2 as a co-founder so have deep strong connections to the Allen Institute of Artificial Intelligence - a top research institution in AI, along with access to knowledge sharing amongst the community of hundreds of engineers that work for ai2incubator.com companies.
- Early-stage equity —We are offering early-stage equity as part of this opportunity, which comes with inherent risk. We strongly believe that we have the potential to create tremendous value over time, and this is a belief shared by both the founders and the Allen Institute for AI. Joining us at this stage means you have the chance to be a part of something groundbreaking and grow with the company.
All are Welcome.
We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive environment. We are actively working to create an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, physical and mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, military and veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Why are you being asked to complete this form?We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
