Provides psychiatric assessment and evaluation of assigned patients including the need for laboratory studies, medications, medication changes and prescribes medications accordingly and as licensed by law. Makes recommendations for other appropriate psychiatric and psychological interventions. Provides case consultation to other FBH staff, residential providers and families upon request. May be asked to help participate in a coverage pool for other outpatient locations or inpatient units on an intermittent or occasional basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Evaluate patients consistent with prevailing practice standards. This includes collection of psychiatric history, relevant medical history, social and family history, mental status exam and diagnosis.
Provide consultative services to staff and regional partners regarding patients under their care.
Provide psychopharmacology interventions to treat symptoms of a full range of psychiatric illnesses based on current best practices and accepted standards of clinical management.
Follow current best practices in psychopharmacologic management and develop an individualized treatment approach based on symptoms, preferences, culture, lifestyle, co-morbidities, risks, and benefits of the plan for the patient.
Participate in court proceedings when required.
Maintain accurate, timely and up to date documentation and medical records for all patients seen, utilizing collaborative documentation whenever reasonably possible.
Consult with the Chief Medical Officer on a regular and as needed basis.
Coordinate with primary health care provider, and facilitate referrals to primary health care physicians, as appropriate.
Work collaboratively with other psychiatric services staff, including psychiatrists, ARNPs, RN’s and office staff.
Comply with FBH employment, safety and clinical policies and procedures.
Comply with additional expectations as listed in the employment contract.

On-Call and Coverage
Assigned call rotation: As part of overall job responsibilities, all FBH psychiatrists will participate in the FBH system-wide management of calls for psychiatric care, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The FBH on-call rotation includes a number of responsibilities including the community consultation line for primary medical doctors and hospitals, psychiatric back-up for other FBH on-call systems and Crisis Response Services, and calls regarding inpatient/residential care for FBH staff-assigned patients. The on-call rotation is assigned in one-week increments, beginning at 8am Monday and concluding at 8am the following Monday.
Optional inpatient coverage: FBH staff Psychiatrists are highly encouraged, but not required, to provide coverage for inpatient services on weekends and holidays on a rotating basis, when needed.
Residency Program: All FBH psychiatrists have the option and are encouraged to participate in providing training to psychiatric residents as part of the University of Washington Psychiatric Residency Program, Spokane track. This may include clinical supervision as well as conducting seminars, in so far as time permits.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

Psychiatrists employed by Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) must be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Washington and by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency; must provide evidence of medical education, including either an MD or DO degree; completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency training program; be Board eligible or Board certified and privileged by FBH and meet FBH Privileging requirements to practice Psychiatry at FBH. Privileges are granted for 2 years at a time according to training. Renewal of Privileges is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance reviews and meeting requirements for licensure, including required continuing medical education credit.
Credentialing as a care provider for various third-party payer organizations is pursued for all FBH psychiatrists via established protocols. Specific job expectations and benefits are as described in each staff member’s FBH employment contract and the attached exhibits. Routine administrative duties for all staff Psychiatrists are required in addition to timely patient care documentation.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required. Prescribers must possess the essential computer skills necessary to navigate MS Office, use Outlook and Word, be able to type and/or record medical notes in the electronic medical record and utilize the electronic prescription software.

PAY (Salary/Exempt): $283, 550.00 Annually
