Business Development/Capture Manager
Job Description:
Sumaria Systems has an immediate opening for a Business Development/Capture Manager focused on the Space & Airborne Systems and C5ISR. This position reports directly to the Director of Business Development (BD) and will be an integral part of the BD team to expand the company’s business base organically with current customers; develop new business opportunities under existing umbrella contracts; and identify, evaluate, and pursue strategic opportunities with new customers and partners.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties for the Business Development/Capture Manager are:
- Assist in growing revenue by identifying and developing new business opportunities/growth areas while maintaining valuable relationships with current government customers and other contractors.
- Ensure the continued growth and success of the company through strategic BD planning, team building, developing key partnerships; support marketing activities; troubleshooting unsuccessful efforts and analyzing patterns of success.
- Develop and maintain high quality relationships with customers and partners.
- Work to develop new business opportunities with various DoD and other Federal customers.
- Lead business capture activities to support the development of proposal documents for contract opportunities.
- Coordinate with other contractors and customers on business development and staffing activities to ensure effective proposal development and transition into contracts as required in support of subcontract and prime contract responsibilities.
- Identify and qualify potential team members for opportunities to prime and other contractors for opportunities to subcontract.
- Provide on-going support and expertise to all management personnel, leading and assisting them in establishing and meeting company financial goals and objectives.

Required Skills/Education:
Minimum Qualifications and/or Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem solving, math skills and general business acumen.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review one’s own work.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Adobe.
- Familiarity with GovWin and BGov, a plus.
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Experience with FEDSIM, HTRO & Best Value propositions.
- Military Experience preferred in any of the service branches (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Space Force) or Other Government Agencies (DHS, DOJ, FBI, DEA, CBP).
- Experience with a CRM Tool.
- Experience with Shipley Capture or SCRUM processes.
Years of Experience:
5+ years of business development experience serving federal government customers. Track record of experience leading growth in new markets – whether they be geographies or customer segments.
Travel:
15%+
Security Clearance Required:
Able to secure DoD security clearance at the Secret level.
