Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challenges
- Analyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer valuable insight to help clients navigate legal proceedings successfully
- Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation matters
- Provide oversight, manage and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client types
- Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Collaborate with attorneys, legal teams and other experts to help strengthen client deliverables and outcomes
- Provide expert witness testimony and analysis when required
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigation
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sector
- Frequently evaluate the performance of existing offerings, recommending adjustments or enhancements to optimize consulting market share
- Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firm’s services
- Mentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop professionally
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law/Legal, or Political Science
- Juris Doctor (JD), Master’s Degree, MBA or PhD preferred
- 10+ years’ experience in the energy utility space, either at a consulting firm, a utility, a public utilities commission, a Big 4 Accounting firm, an energy-focused law firm or similar organizations
- Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and direct team-based business development tasks
- Proven experience in leading the ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings
- Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or other utility regulatory proceedings
- Very strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Must be able to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership
- Requires occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada
Depending on the level hired, the base salary for this role will typically start at $200,000 plus annual incentive compensation bonus.
