Position Overview
Based anywhere in the U.S., the Director of Product Management, Center Management will be an integral member of the Product team and a key driver of Teaching Strategies' continued evolution as a digital SaaS company. You will be responsible for leading the strategy, product planning, and overall success of our new Center Management system. This includes critical back-office functions such as billing and payments, staff scheduling, lead tracking, and online enrollment, as well as important classroom tools like attendance and family communications that will help both large and small early childhood education centers manage every part of their organization.
As the Director of Product Management, you will be responsible for working in close cooperation with the VP of Product Management in setting and then driving execution against the strategy and roadmap. You will also partner closely with other product managers, scrum masters, developers, and UX/UI designers to drive the development, testing, rollout, and evolution of critical administrative tools that customers love. This is both a strategic and tactical hands-on Product Manager role, and you can expect to engage directly in roadmap planning, prioritizing bugs, and everything in between.
Success in this role will require you to have a bias for action, sound judgment to make high-quality decisions quickly, and a natural ability to build alignment as you drive your team and ideas forward using data-driven analysis, logic, research, and strong problem-solving as your tools of the trade.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities
- Be an outcome-driven product leader for several agile scrum teams in the creation and delivery of our center management solutions.
- Drive roadmap clarity, requirements, and tactical prioritization in partnership with product leadership and team members from UI/UX, engineering, QA, internal SMEs/stakeholders, and customers to create solution(s) to meaningful problems.
- Be able to drive strong decisions and actions, leading cross-matrixed engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Build alignment on scope and delivery of product vision and solution designs with technology counterparts in engineering, QA, and program management.
- Engage in customer research and discovery to validate new product concepts and maintain strong empathy for customer and end-user jobs-to-be-done.
- Stay abreast of evolving market and customer needs to guide product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, QA, and DevOps to build the context and confidence to prioritize user stories, bugs, security issues, tech debt, and other key items on the scrum teams.
- Attend agile scrum ceremonies representing the voice of the customer as the lead Product Manager for the team.
- Assist Scrum Masters, Marketing, and Product Support w/ translating technical details for tech and non-tech audiences (e.g., release notes, KB updates, training, etc.).
- Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and Partner Success teams to effectively launch new products and features to market.
- Manage and coach a small team of Associate Product Managers.
- Occasional domestic travel required for in-person team, department, and company meetings.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center Management or Billing and Payments products.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience as a Product Leader with a strong and consistent track record of launching high-quality software products and features that customers love.
- 8+ years of experience successfully leading large, cross-functional teams as a Product Manager in an agile/scrum development environment.
- Experience working side-by-side with software developers, making sound prioritization decisions, and creating reliable pathways to determine the efficacy of your solutions.
- Exemplary communication skills with technical audiences, customers and users, and executives.
- Proven ability to step back and see the whole ecosystem and provide solutions that impact the entire user flow, not only discrete features.
- An advanced technical degree in Computer Science or Engineering is a plus.
