Position Overview: Choate Construction is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team in the Atlanta office. The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in supporting the CFO and Controller, ensuring the smooth operation of accounting activities, particularly focused on construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for both construction and finance to contribute to our organization's success.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy.
Accounts Payable: Oversee accurate and timely processing of pay applications, invoices, and payments by the Accounts Payable team.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with project managers to monitor project budgets, analyze variances, and forecast project profitability.
Financial Systems and Processes: Utilize Construction ERP systems to streamline processes, track project costs, and optimize financial reporting.
Audits: Coordinate external audits of financial statements, facilitating auditors' tasks.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, including training and mentoring.
Ad Hoc Projects: Take ownership of special projects and undertake ad hoc reporting tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or similar financial certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in the construction industry, demonstrating proficiency in construction accounting principles and practices.
Experience with Construction ERP systems (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, CMiC).
Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
Excellent analytical skills, capable of interpreting financial data and identifying trends relevant to construction projects.
Thorough understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements pertinent to construction accounting.
