JOB SUMMARY:

Position is for Florida Region.

We are seeking Senior level Fire Protection Engineering Consultants to provide services such as life safety code consulting, sprinkler/suppression system design, fire alarm system design, and performance-based fire engineering both locally and nationally. We are flexible with the location of our engineering staff in all US regions.

We are currently looking for a self-starter with a drive to assist in building a business in a new market (geographic or service) by establishing healthy client relationships through delivering quality services on time and on budget. Proven ability to communicate effectively with team members and across multiple business functional areas. A desire to be technically excellent and involved in local and national industry focus areas. Also must have the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Engineering Functions:

Design and evaluation of fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, smoke control systems, fire-rated separations, means of egress, fire/smoke and egress modeling and other fire life safety features in buildings and facilities.
Classification and evaluation of hazardous materials.
Building code consulting and fire code consulting for the construction industry to work with and support our Summit Companies installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance teams.
Report writing and documentation.
On-site inspections and observations.

Project and Growth Functions

Prepare and manage project scope of services and budgets.
Manage resources and staff on individual projects, including assistance with job set-up, monitoring of profitability and billings.
Establish relationships with the authorities having jurisdiction to assist our customers in presenting fire protection approaches to the authorities and achieving the desired results.
Participation in business development activities including development and tracking proposals.
Present Company qualifications to new and existing customers, with the intent of establishing clientele in the selected markets.
Participate in the establishment of a new consulting engineering office and presence, including growth of new and existing clientele.
Collaboration with Summit Fire National Consulting team on larger projects and national accounts.
Assist Summit fire protection contracting business by performing analyses, calculations, code and standard reviews, and other functions in support of design/build opportunities.
Attendance at regional and national conferences to promote the capabilities of the Summit Companies, including the preparation and presentation of selected papers and speeches at these conferences.
Participation in industry and professional organizations.

Requirements:

Minimum of 8+ years of Fire Protection Consulting experience including code consulting, design of systems, and fire protection engineering.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, preferably Fire Protection Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
Professional Engineering License, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering.

Experience

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to mentor and manage staff.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Demonstrated capabilities in professional service business processes including preparing and managing project budgets.
Experience with hydraulic calculations, fire and smoke simulation, egress and pedestrian movement models or suppression system design programs is a plus.
Bluebeam, AutoCAD or REVIT experience is desirable.
