Tasks to be performed when staff RN is assigned Charge function on a given shift: Individual assigned to charge is responsible to assess, plan, direct and evaluate the delivery of care to all patients in the following areas: Utilizing the acuity classification system assess the number and skill level of personnel needed to provide quality patient care in the department for the upcoming shift. Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of care provided on assigned shift and identifies problems with recommendations for improvement. Directs/supervises others in the planning of patient care. Facilitates all admissions and discharges of patients to the unit. Effectively directs staff during any emergency situation.
