Job Role: Sr. Manager – Ideation Team

Work Mode: Work from Office

Function: Idea & Incubation Office

Reporting to: Head of Idea & Incubation Office (IAPAC & EMEA Region)

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for an Ideation Leader role in the Idea & Incubation department of PT&D – Digital Energy Solutions, located in Chennai. The Sr. Manager – Ideation Team is a key support function role in the Idea & Incubation Office of PT&D - Digital Solutions, where you will contribute to innovations through futuristic and disruptive idea generation, idea incubation, collaborating with universities and startups, and creating huge impacts on the business in terms of bringing disruptive products and solutions for the long-term future.

Ideation Strategy & Direction:

Lead a team of 5 to 6 Ideation Engineers and drive disruptive idea generation for the Business.
Prepare high-level idea incubation roadmaps and plans by working with the business operations team.
Explore multiple options for pathways for the Ideation and suggest potential options for DS to pursue.
Collaborate with Business Segments and Sales team to understand key customer points/issues/stories and translate them into well-defined problem statements to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
Explore & define pathways for Ideation Challenges, Hackathons, University collaborations, DST, and Government collaborations.
Collaborate with the Market Intelligence team and get market insights for various ideas generated by the team.
Drive customer partnered Ideation Projects by collaborating with Regional Leaders.
Create strong differentiation for DES by developing new and disruptive ideas in the energy domain.
Drive Ideation Challenges/Hackathons by collaborating with Universities/Startups every year.
Perform techno-commercial feasibility studies for idea realization and coordinate Ideation Gate Review Meetings.
Identify funds/grants for DES to pursue and make proposals for achieving the same in the areas of new innovation.
Collaborate with the Market Intelligence Team to bring market insights on new ideas and proposals.
Collaborate with the Social Media Communication team for Ideation Challenge Campaigns and publishing relevant knowledge articles from the Ideation Team.

Team Management:

Lead & manage day-to-day activities and strategic direction of the DS Ideation team.
Foster a culture of innovative mindset across the DS organization for idea generation leading to resource development.
Manage Ideation Engineers in the team, dealing with issues, conflicts, and assigning priorities.
Manage training and competency development of the team members.
Inspire and motivate the Idea incubation teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgency.
Set performance goals and periodically review and track the progress, and conduct performance appraisals.
Continuously coach & mentor team members to deliver their best performance.
Monitor performance of the team, identify competency gaps, and organize required trainings by collaborating with the Training Department.
Manage different Ideation Programs as individual projects and track and monitor.

Program & Process Management:

Streamline the idea generation process and workflows and define IT Service Performance KPIs and SLAs.
Report the performance metrics and KPIs to the management regularly.
Apply Design Thinking Process in the Idea Generation Process.
Track and monitor day-to-day activities of various Ideation programs and projects.
Prepare Statement of Work with a detailed project plan for implementing the shortlisted ideation projects.
Identify the risks & constraints and proactively monitor them and apply required risk management strategies.
Establish and execute the ideation process with clear goals & objectives duly supported by people, process, and tools.

Finance & Budget Management:

Manage recurrent and annual capital budget for the Ideation unit and forecast annual budget required for the team.
Contribute to the financial planning and risk management process by producing business cases and financial models to support new requirements for Ideation & Incubation.
Track and monitor budget utilization and periodically report to the management.
Proactively work with vendors and partners to deliver CAPEX/OPEX items planned for the year.

Others:

3 - 5 years of experience working in Research & Innovation Team.
Experience leading and managing R&D Teams and projects and driving innovation for business growth.
Good visibility in Industry Forums, Standard bodies.
Experience in driving Innovation Programs such as Ideation Challenge/Hackathons.
Creative & open mindset.
Excellent oral and written skills in English.
Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
Ability to work in a matrix reporting structure.
Flexible to manage a multi-cultural workforce.
