Position Summary

The Director of OR manages daily operations of the Operating room and PACU. Directs and supervises functions and activities; interprets policies, procedures, standards and regulations as appropriate. Partners with Medical Staff to ensure the quality and productivity of surgical services operations at South Arkansas Regional Hospital.

Qualifications/Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

Five years O.R. experience. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Minimum 3 years staff experience

Other Skills:

Certification in Operating Room nursing desired. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Time management, organization and multitasking of competing priorities.

Licenses/Certificate:

Current unencumbered licensure to practice as an RN in the State of Arkansas (includes multistate)

Enforces Hospital policies and procedures.
Submits documentation, charges, and medical records in a timely manner.
Responsible for all staff related requirements of unit, including recruitment, corrective action, and daily labor management of staff based on case load and skill mix.
Organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities within the Surgical Services area, consulting with President/CFO/CNO/Executives as necessary.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served by Surgical Services.
Inspects Surgical Services area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action in the presence of violations.
Partners with Anesthesia and surgeons concerning availability of operating suites and personnel for scheduling cases.
Maintains skills and competencies necessary for clinical support of the Surgical Services area.
Assists in OR suites as necessary
Enhances professional growth and development for self and staff through participation in educational offerings
Role Models best practices in the OR and ambulatory setting for staff.
Directs maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health comfort and safety for patients and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
