BACKGROUND

Carmen Schools of Science and Technology (Carmen) is the largest public charter school network in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a mission to graduate all students as critical thinkers and self-directed learners prepared for success in college, meaningful careers, community involvement, and family life. Carmen Schools currently operates five campuses, each one as an independent charter school authorized by Milwaukee Public Schools or UW-Milwaukee.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is scheduled to report to the Senior Staff Accountant, once filled.

Work with senior staff accountant to process and manage accounts payable.
Monitor bank activity, including uploading transactions to Abila and cash reporting.
Manage school deposits by assisting school personnel and network staff with properly recording and reporting deposits in a timely manner.
Assist with supporting grant tracking and reporting.
Manage private grant, gift and donation recording and reporting. This includes working collaboratively with the staff who lead grant making to obtain pertinent information for accounting and reporting purposes.
Assist with identifying and recording revenues received from authorizers and other sources by reviewing bank activity and related reporting from authorizers and funders.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) & Google Systems.

Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with many different individuals across an organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks in partnership with the CFO including: managing an extremely active calendar of appointments; completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential.
Assists in managing the General & Administrative budget; organizes and maintains files.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude and provides exceptional customer service.
Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
Support with accounts payable.
Account reconciliation, notably with credit cards and amazon account.
Deposits for schools.
Benefits/payroll admin support.
Purchasing.
Grants.
Donations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position will work predominantly Monday – Friday; however, this position will require work on evenings and weekends as necessary.
