Job Description

General Objectives:

Senior Accountant will be Reporting to the Administration Manager. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for daily financial transactions, month-end accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and annual budget preparation for multiple entities. In addition, the individual will provide ad hoc support to management and collaborate with financial planning and analysis, as well as assist with data requests related to the annual financial audit and tax return preparation.

Key Areas Of Responsibilities & Duties

The key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to the following:

Managing the AP functions to ensure on-time payments and employee expenses reimbursements.
Managing Payroll functions.
Month-end close including preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Monitoring and analyzing accounting data.
Producing financial reporting packages and statements.
Reviewing consolidated financial statements.
Performing business analysis and providing insight into opportunities for improvement.
Maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other duties as assigned.
Managing cash and completing bank reconciliations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Strong understanding of accounting/financial procedures and administration and office management.
Advanced analytical skills within Excel required.
Knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles, compliance, and practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP financial reporting system preferred.
Experience implementing ERP systems preferred.

Required Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance and a professional accounting designation preferred.
5 – 10 years related accounting and general office experience required, including both cost and financial accounting disciplines within a mining environment.
