Our customer is seeking a contract UX Researcher to help support their business needs. This role is hybrid in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities

Interact directly with game/app-development teams, turning their needs and goals into research plans which will usually be usability tests/playtests, but sometimes surveys, and result in a better understanding of consumer needs and the user journey.
For playtests, manage them wholly: writing the plan, working with recruiting to find the right participants, moderating the study, and synthesizing and presenting the findings.
For surveys, manage them from end to end: writing them, programming them in internal tools or Qualtrics, pulling potential respondents in SQL (or purchasing them from a vendor), analyzing the data in R or SPSS (support for this will be available), and writing the report.

Qualifications

Bachelors is required, (Masters/PhD desired) preferably in Psychology or Sociology, or any degree plus user research experience (5+ years) will do too.
4+ years of related experience required.
Experience moderating user research sessions and usability testing.
Experience turning Qualitative and Quantitative Data into actionable insights.
Working with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Distinctive Qualifications

Video Games User Research experience.
Survey writing expertise.
Experience working in entertainment, media, or music publishing industries.
Understanding of research agency landscape, especially agencies specializing in the entertainment/media research space.
App development user research.
VR (Virtual Reality) user research experience.
Passion for video games and/or VR is needed.
Experience with analysis and data modeling in R or SPSS.
