Description
The Director Diagnostic Imaging provides an optimal practice environment that ensures the delivery of quality patient care. Responsible for planning, directing and managing patient care delivery within the Department of Imaging Services. Oversees the 24-hour operation of Imaging Services with accountability for leadership, budget preparation and overall fiscal management, staffing, planning, and Department organization. Role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all hospital functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Develops programs, policies, procedures, and standards of care to ensure patient's needs are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and manages Imaging Services Department ensuring that policies, procedures, and standards of care are consistent.
- Maintains a positive, professional image. Recognizes staff contributions consistently and fosters educational and developmental opportunities.
- Provides positive leadership and oversees supervision of staff. Understands scope of practice and uses authority to proactively problem solve.
- Develops and implements an annual operating budget and capital budget to meet the organizations fiscal needs.
- Maintains a safe work environment by ensuring that staff adheres to all JCAHO, Title 22 and 17, hospital, and departmental policies and procedures and other regulatory requirements.
- Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance for all Radiation Safety Practices
- Works with Physician staff to promote quality, efficiency, and program development
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare / management related field
- Master's Degree in Healthcare / management related field (preferred)
- Upon hire: RT (Registered), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Nuclear Medicine Tech Certified (NMTCB) (preferred)
- 5 years of Supervisory/Managerial experience
- 5 years of Clinical experience
- Computer experience
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve, analyze situations, think critically, give constructive feedback and supervise team with others
- Ability to develop and manage operating capital equipment budgets
- Ability to work collaboratively with Physician staff to promote quality and program development
- Understands how to maximize the use of all Imagine modalities to create the largest benefit to the medical community
- Is aware of new and emerging technologies and understands how they may help advance Imaging Services
- Excellent project management skills for capital and program development
- Knowledge of PACS and other Radiology IS systems.
