Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial preparation of revenues and expenses, coordinating the collection, consolidation and evaluation of financial data and accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will oversee the accountants, including Payroll, to ensure the information is timely and accurately filed, maintained, and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other non-profit regulations.
- Provide direct supervision to the accountants to mentor, develop and build an effective accounting team dynamic, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation.
- Ensure the day-to-day entry of data into the Agency’s general ledger occurs timely and accurately. Review the details monthly to confirm details and coding are in the proper cost centers, accounts and accounting periods.
- Collaborates with HR to ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll data. Responsible to review and approve payroll data before submission.
- Support the Senior FP&A and Human Resources team in various processes including preparation of cost reports, grants, payroll, and budget; ensure that revenues and expenditures are consistently and properly aligned for reporting purposes.
- Stays apprised to updates and changes within GAAP, supports in updating the accounting policies and procedures and ensures internal controls stay in compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare monthly and annual close process; oversight of all account reconciliations; supports regular financial data analysis to ensure financial reports are accurate and timely.
- Manage the accounting systems and maintain the chart of accounts.
- Review capital expenditures and depreciation entries to ensure proper reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of Form 990 for fiscal and calendar year; assists with outside auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Participate in any agency audits.
- Develops, monitors, coaches and manages staff, ensuring the development of employees through orientation, training establishing objectives, communication of rules, constructive discipline. Builds employee morale, motivation and loyalty and fosters a team-like environment.
- Collaborates with programs/departments on various grant and contract funding received, ensuring proper financial reporting and budgets are maintained and tracked.
- Manage organizational cash flow, forecasting and collaborate with finance staff on various items to meet operational needs.
- Perform all duties and services in full compliance with the expectations of OLV Human Services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Intermediate level skills of Microsoft (Excel and Word); Computer skills in various software systems such as, Sage.
- Knowledge of multi-funded, non-profit organizational structure, laws and governing regulations including preparation of reporting requirements, analysis of revenues and expenses.
- Ability to work with outside auditors.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities in a fast-paced and often stressful environment; strong organizational/time management skills; demonstrate flexibility regarding job duties and assignments; ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team to organize tasks and make decisions.

Education:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance.
Experience:
Minimum Experience Required: 6 years of accounting and staff management within a non-profit environment.
Required License/Registration/Certification:
- CPA or MBA preferred.
- Valid New York State Driver License, auto insurance and ability to accept travel assignments as required.
Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.

Salary Range:
$58,460 - $70,000/annually, with consideration to applicable years of experience.
