FTE: 1.0, Shift: Days, Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Position Summary
The Senior Patient Financial Navigator at MultiCare is a vital role in assisting patients and families to access financial resources. In this position, you will evaluate the financial situations of uninsured or underinsured patients and determine eligibility for financial assistance helping to ensure health care for all community members.
Responsibilities
- You will explain topics of insurance coverage, treatment costs, local and national alternative coverage opportunities, and financial assistance opportunities to the patient, relative or patient's representative.
- You will provide expertise and education in the areas of Medicaid eligibility, Social Security Disability and any available government programs.
- You will work with self-pay patients that do not qualify for government assistance programs to resolve accounts.
- You will recommend patient services for charity write-off.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree with business emphasis, public health administration or similar degree preferred.
- One (1) year of business or college course work required.
- Completion of a medical terminology course or proficiency required.
- National Association of Access Management Certification required.
- Certified as an Application Counselor (CAC).
- Five (5) years of experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payer, Medicaid case work or billing experience of which two years is as a Washington State Certified Navigator.

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $21.90 - $31.51 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
