Job title: Senior Accountant
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end AP and Credit Card expense processes, up to and including matching invoices and data entry.
- Assist with month end closing process by evaluating account balances and preparing any necessary journal entries.
- Complete bank and credit card account reconciliation.
- Partner internally to establish & refine accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure the accurate and timely filing of state taxes.
- Process weekly commission payments for multiple entities in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional, timely communication with vendors, customers, management, and staff.
- Manage reimbursements through an expense management service.
- Manage accounts payable for separate entities and vendors.
- Ensure bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
- Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges.
- Assist with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling weekly statements and transactions.
- Ability to navigate and complete intercompany transactions.
- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and assist with closing the monthly books.
- Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and build effective relationships with other departments.
- Reconcile customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections.
- Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Must be open to cross training on other aspects of the accounting cycle.
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information.
- Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
- 5+ years of experience in an accounting related function required.
- Desire to and ability to thrive in a high-paced environment.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software, esp. NetSuite strongly preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Desire to expand your technical accounting expertise; initiative to learn and grow.
- Prior experience in financial reporting required.
- Ability to collaborate and build effective partnerships across the business.
- Proficient in Google Workspace is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
