Position: Employment Consultant
Organization: New England Business Associates (NEBA)
Type: Full-time (35 - 40 hours per week)
Work Location: This is a hybrid position which requires both remote and in-person work. We have positions available in either: Hamden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties in Massachusetts, or Hartford County and surrounding areas in Connecticut.
Schedule: Monday – Friday daytime, with occasional evenings and half-day weekend shifts
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Role Overview:
Employment Consultants support job seekers with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their employment goals. This involves providing one-on-one support, job coaching, case management, and job development within the community. Employment Consultants also engage with businesses to promote hiring individuals with disabilities and match job seekers with suitable employment opportunities.
This position is ideal for candidates passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities in reaching their employment and career goals, using their skills in relationship-building, communication, and job coaching.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the skills, interests, strengths, and support needs of individuals.
- Provide support in employment, educational, and community settings to help individuals achieve their goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, utilizing personal and professional networks.
- Support job retention, career growth, and skill development for job seekers.
- Promote independence and self-sufficiency for the individuals served.
- Document progress and communicate with individuals' support teams about growth and barriers.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional appearance for effective relationship-building.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, tailored to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience facilitating both virtual and in-person sessions.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to various locations daily and provide transportation for participants using own vehicle.
- Ability to work independently, with periodic guidance.
- Experience working with people with disabilities (previous job development/employment support experience preferred).
- Clean background check and driving record.
- Must have a reliable, insured vehicle and a valid Driver’s License.
