Dr. Chirag Parikh’s lab in the Division of Nephrology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is a vibrant environment dedicated to the application of laboratory and preclinical-based discoveries to clinical studies in kidney disease and related disorders (http://tribe.jhmi.edu). The group is composed of physicians, statisticians, data scientists, health informatician, research fellows, nurses, and study coordinators.
This research lab is looking for a Biostatistician with a strong interest and experience in academic clinical research. The successful candidate will join the analytic team and will work both independently and as part of a team to perform various activities including data management and analysis, interpretation of results, and support various research projects. The successful candidate will also work with investigators, post-graduate fellows, and students to complete various translational and clinical research projects using a variety of statistical techniques.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide statistical input in the design, execution and analysis of studies.
- Develop and implement statistical analysis plans including data validation, descriptive statistics, data analyses, creation of graphs and figures, statistical testing and/or modeling.
- Manage and process multiple data sources prior to data analysis.
- Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant methods, results, conclusions, and references.
- Collaborate with other biostatisticians, data scientists, data analysts, and team members.
- Participate in the preparation of abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts.
Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong background in statistical principles and a range of statistical, epidemiological, machine learning methods (e.g. longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, random forest).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment managing multiple tasks with potentially competing timelines.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.
- One year related experience.
- Experience with statistical programming and completing statistical analysis in SAS or R.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience conducting data analysis.
- Previous experience analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic data.
- Interest and experience in academic clinical research.

Starting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($70,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
