The Opportunity
Description
We're looking for a Mental Health Counselor, Field-based, working in Healthcare Systems and Services industry in Baldwin Park, California, United States.
As a Field-based Mental Health Counselor, utilizing your knowledge gained from your social services degree and experience working with emotionally disturbed children, you will coordinate services and case management, discharge planning, and case consultation with multidisciplinary teams, referral sources, school, and allied agencies to support each client through growth and stability.
What your day looks like as a Field-based Mental Health Counselor at Hillsides:
- With a flexible, non-traditional schedule, and utilizing your own vehicle, you will provide mental health services in-home, and other locations outside our Family Resource Centers. Note: mileage is eligible for reimbursement with proper receipt documentation.
- You will participate, coordinate and/or facilitate Child Family Team meetings (CFTs) and case consultation with multidisciplinary teams.
- When needed, you will report any child abuse and neglect based on governmental laws and regulations regarding the provision of mental health services.
- You will act in accordance with Ethical and Professional standards as established by the organizations outside of Hillsides.
- As necessary, be available for crisis support to clients 24/7 when the therapist is unavailable.
- With your strong organization and attention to detail, you will track daily billing expectations (3.25 hours/day) and submit notes within required timeframes and complete DMH outcomes on a quarterly and as-needed basis.

Experience Required for Your Success
As a Field-based Mental Health Counselor, you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a social services field and at least 1 year experience in a social services field, or an associate’s degree (AA) with at least 6 years’ experience in a social services field - working with emotionally disturbed children/youth or in a mental health setting.
- Any Chemical Dependency State Certification is strongly preferred. (CADPT, CADEE, or CADC).
- A valid California driver’s license. Must be able to show driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage.
