Job Description
MISSION: To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Setup: To accurately set up castings for radiography.
- Checks routing or requests to determine x-ray needs on parts.
- Reviews Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions and Film/IP requirements.
- Sets up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards.
- Inspects condition and maintains Film/IP and cassettes.
- Sets up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of Film/IP's, and DICOM tag identification.
- Determines priority of radiographs to be taken.
- Develops best practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques.
- Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris etc.
2. X-Ray Operation: To effectively and accurately operate x-ray machines and produce radiographs within customer specifications.
- Operates x-ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings.
- Monitors, maintains, and generates exposures for System Qualifications on X-ray equipment.
- Regularly conducts more than one radiographic examination concurrently.
- Removes Film/IP from casting for image processing.
- Checks samples of radiographs on each casting for clarity, coverage, pixel value and sensitivity.
- Willingness to be audited without notice by all Auditors.
3. Safety: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operates all equipment and tools.
- Identifies and reports safety problems.

Experience & Education
- Training is provided on the job.
- Radiography Level 1 Courses must be completed.
- Radiographer Level 1 Certification must be completed for all modalities.
- Must re-certify - Level 1 every five years.
Required Skills
- Radiography skills as demonstrated by the competent performance of all duties.
- High school graduation or GED (necessary for NDT Certification).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read, follow and interpret Technique Cards.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
