We are hiring a Speech Therapist to join our dynamic care team at Summit Commons Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Providence!

As a Speech Therapist, you will provide patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment and consultation to a general rehab caseload; participate in the clinical team process; provide teaching and training to caregiver staff; and supervise other assistants, aides, and students as required.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Speech Therapy.
- Current licensure by the applicable state agency.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience in long term care preferred.
- CEUs per state licensure requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Screen patients/residents.
- Evaluate patients/residents and develop appropriate care plans.
- May perform additional assigned administrative duties such as assigning and overseeing resident care activities, medical record oversight, assuring execution of physician orders, ordering supplies, etc.
- Under a physician’s order, provide direct resident treatments in accordance with an established plan of care. Treatment venue includes individual, supervised, and group.
- Contribute to the team meeting and decision-making process as defined by the program.
- Consult with and train patients/residents and caregivers.
- Monitor efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor.
- Document activities according to the company’s clinical documentation system on a timely basis.
- Demonstrate consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, residents, team members, customers, and supervisor.
- Participate in clinical program development and implementation.
- Participate in the training and orientation of other staff.
- Demonstrate ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.
- Comply with facility Privacy Practices policies and procedures and protect residents’ individual health information.
- May perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.

- Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.
- Excellent hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations, and marketing activities.
- Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, manipulations of equipment, and for direct patient care.
- Requires intense attention and concentration.
- Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for self and others.
- Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.
