We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team located in Framingham, MA. This full-time role is integral to our commitment to provide exceptional care and service to our patients. The phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venipunctures, handling specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the lab's processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform blood draws and collect other specimens with attention to safety and comfort of the patient.
- Properly label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens as per test order requirements.
- Ensure all requisitions are matched correctly with specimen tubes and maintenance of 100% accuracy for all processes.
- Package specimens for transport and ensure their integrity according to established procedure.
- Follow all relevant regulations, such as OSHA and DEP guidelines, to ensure safe handling of all specimens.
- Provide clear explanations to patients regarding procedures and obtain accurate patient information for records.
- Attend annual trainings and remain compliant with all departmental procedures.
- Assist with work flow improvements by suggesting and implementing new techniques and practices.
- Answer phone calls and provide laboratory results and responses to queries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Travel/float as needed based on coverage requirements and maintain a clean driving record.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED or Phlebotomy Certification required.
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
- Ability to perform tasks with precision and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to follow complex instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work full time, with flexibility to travel or float to other locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of professional experience in phlebotomy or related field.
- Experience with both straight and butterfly needles.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance procedures for lab equipment.
- Experience in training peers and enhancing workflow efficiencies.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle patient inquiries effectively.
