MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR IV (remote position)
Novant Health is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator IV to join our ambulatory pharmacy team to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time.
Preferred Experience/Credentials
- 3+ years of high-volume call center experience
- Understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Experience with managing high volumes of clinical referrals and patient scheduling
- Customer service oriented
- Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record preferred
- Highly motivated individual who is self-directed and able to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by Novant Health
Essential functions include:
- Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information.
- Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
- Verifies through patient’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) when last and any future appointments are scheduled to coordinate and ensures orders, referrals, and required authorizations are in place when applicable.
- Data entry of referral information into electronic medical record system, including patient demographics, diagnosis, medications, and specific orders related to patient care.
- Directs all daily patient referral and intake operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of intake policies.
- Ensure that referrals are addressed in a timely manner.
- Remind patients of scheduled appointments via mail or phone.
- Partnership with NHMG providers and clinical staff to provide remarkable patient care.
- Contributes to process improvement projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing while having a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience:
- Three years of experience in a medical office setting, required. Other related experience may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
- Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of medical office software for the following: updating patient demographic information, posting charges, copays, and scheduling patient appointments. Requires understanding of CPT and ICD9-CM coding processes. Requires excellent verbal communication skills. Must be able to work with changing priorities. Requires excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Must be able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to function as part of a team. Must possess initiative. Basic medical terminology required, knowledge can be obtained through formal classes or work experience. High level of working knowledge of EPIC systems. Detailed knowledge of multiple payors billing requirements. Familiarity of coding requirements for practice specialty.
- Additional Skills (preferred): Proficient in the use of all computer software utilized in the practice.
