As an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited clinic, our team of veterinarians and support staff adheres to the highest standards of facility and pet care. Only 15% of all practices are AAHA certified.
Position Purpose:
Davis Pet Hospital in Collinsville, IL is looking to add another veterinarian to our awesome team! We are an AAHA accredited, full-service small animal clinic.
Our team currently consists of 5 full-time veterinarians that have accumulated many combined decades of experience. Supporting them are 5 certified veterinary technicians, 3 other members of our team that have completed a technician program and are waiting on the licensing exam, and 4 other members are currently enrolled in the Penn Foster technician program. Our technicians are extremely competent and well utilized for monitoring anesthesia, catheter placement, radiographs, blood draws, cystos, and more. Our team is cohesive, compassionate, and we truly allow each other to practice the best medicine. We are confident that any new veterinarian will flourish as a part of our team!
We welcome DVMs of all experience levels - for new graduates, any of our current doctors will make great mentors. Our busy practice will ensure a steady and exciting caseload. For doctors with a surgical interest, our surgical caseload consists of:
- routine soft tissue
- simple fracture repair
- emergency surgery (c-section, pyometra, foreign body)
- cruciate repairs
- splenectomies
- cystotomies and more!

Essential Responsibilities:
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
