Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 (MLS 2) is responsible for performing patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. This is a technical position requiring performing multiple tests with exacting accuracy and rapid turnaround time. The MLS performs manual and automated procedures, operates instruments that are computer interfaced, and uses networked computer information systems. This position requires a service-committed individual, who is detail-oriented, can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The MLS may assume some administrative responsibilities and act as a resource for other laboratory personnel as well as for external customers such as physicians, patient care staff, and outside organizations and laboratories.
- Determine additional testing/review when unexpected abnormalities are detected
- Reagent Preparation
- Issue Blood for Emergency Transfusion
- High-Complexity Testing
- Works with MLS-2 and/or MLS-3 oversight
- Train New MLS-1 or MLA
- Transfusion Medicine Testing
- Equipment Validation
- Quality Initiatives
- Shift operational coordination (in absence of MLS-3)
- Competency Administration, provided meets CLIA requirements for General Supervisor
- Works Independently (no oversight)
- Train new hires
- Train students
- Interprets and Results Quality Control Tests
- Interprets and Validates Calibration
MLS-2 (Senior MLS):
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biological Science, or Medical Technology with Current Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist with at least 2 years' laboratory experience performing high-complexity testing
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biological Science, or Medical Technology with Current Certification related to specific laboratory discipline with at least 2 years' laboratory experience performing high-complexity testing
- Associates Degree and current Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician with at least 4 years' laboratory experience performing high-complexity testing

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits, and paid time off. The pay scale is $36.51 - $52.53 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
